During my time at PSU, I had the privilege of being part of a transformative journey – a mission to engage with campus leadership activities, learn, educate, support fellow students, and above all, serve the PSU community with a deep sense of purpose. This experience allowed me to connect with the heart of our community, opening my eyes to the power of giving back and the positive impact we can create together.
As a student leader for service, I dedicated two meaningful years to volunteer work, pouring my time, energy, and skills into projects that uplifted and enriched our community. It was a journey filled with diverse experiences, challenges, and countless moments of inspiration as I witnessed the tangible effects of our efforts in the lives of those we served.
Among the activities that left a lasting imprint on my heart were the Earth Days of Service. Twice a year, on a Saturday closest to April 22nd, I joined hands with my PSU fellows in a series of service activities focused on nurturing our environment and supporting our community. From tending to garden work parties and witnessing the beauty of nature’s transformation to participating in beach clean-ups and protecting our oceans, these experiences nurtured a profound sense of environmental stewardship within all of us.
One of the most transformative experiences was the alternative spring break trip to San Francisco, CA. The trip’s focus on hunger, houselessness, and social equity immersed us in the vibrant and diverse community of San Francisco. This eye-opening week brought us closer to the complexities of these issues and the resilience of those affected. We learned the true power of empathy, compassion and the importance of being a force for positive change.

As I reflect on my time at PSU, I am filled with gratitude for the invaluable lessons and experiences that shaped me as an individual. Volunteering taught me not only about leadership but also the power of human connection, compassion, and working together to create a brighter future for all.
Empowering communities through service is not a momentary act but a lifelong commitment to making the world a better place. I carry with me a profound sense of responsibility and passion for service, and I am dedicated to continuing this journey wherever life takes me.
I urge my fellow students and future generations to embrace the spirit of giving back and serving with purpose. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change, transforming not only our communities but also our own lives.
